Days after shut down, Torrentz resurfaces in a new avatar
After shutting down officially on August 5, the largest torrent meta-search engine Torrentz.eu is now back in a new avatar – Torrentz2.eu.
“Torrentz2.eu is a clone of Torrentz, a free, fast and powerful meta-search engine combining results from dozens of search engines,” says the home page of the new domain.
Torrentz, a search engine for finding torrent files, had ended its operations last week, telling its millions of users: "Torrentz will always love you. Farewell."
Torrentz was launched in July 2003 by an individual named Flippy. It had millions of visitors per day and the site grew to become one of the most visited torrent sites.
After more than 13 years of service, the popular site announced its farewell just a few hours ago, that too without any warning.
Barely a month ago, Artem Vaulin, a 30-year-old Ukrainian owner of Kickass Torrents, was detained in Poland after being charged with a four-count US criminal indictment which was followed by shutdown of the search engine.
