Google launches Chromecast Dongle, Audio at Rs 3,399: Here’s everything you need to know
New Delhi: Google has launched its second-generation Chromecast dongle along with new Chromecast Audio dongle, both at a price of Rs. 3,399. The dongles will be available from several online marketplaces including Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm, as well as retailers like Reliance and Croma.
Introductory offers have six months of free Saavn Pro and HOOQ subscriptions.
"The new Chromecast brings your favourite entertainment from your mobile devices to the big screen with ease. Chromecast Audio, our newest addtition, lets you enjoy your favourite muaic, podcasts and radio from anywhere," Mickey Kim, head of APAC Chromecast Partnerships, told reporters here.
"The future of entertainment is streaming and Chromecast brings it all to you in a simple and affordable device," Kim added.
The updated Chromecast app now provides personalised suggestions as well as functionality for specific searches.
The new device works across Android device, Chromebooks, iPhones, iPads and Windows laptops.
Google has sold over 20 million devices since the launch of first device in 2014.

Design: The second-generation devices come with a completely new design and have been upgraded to offer faster and better performance. The device has a circular design and is available in yellow, black and red colour variants.
Chromecast dongle: The new Chromecast device can convert any TV into a smart TV. It helps in streaming video content to a larger screen via Wi-Fi. Also the new model comes with better hardware and supports latest Wi-Fi technologies. Google has added a 5GHz Wi-Fi 802.11ac and a new ‘Fast Play’ feature, which allows Chromecast to quickly start a video or audio streaming by simply pressing the Cast button.
The device has access to 200,000 TV shows & films and around 30 million songs. It has games from free and paid subscription offered by hundreds of apps. These apps include Saavn music, radio, Wynk music, Netflix, Twitch, Google Play movies, Eros Now, Yupp TV, Ditto TV and Hungama Play and more.
Chromecast Audio: It basically helps Android smartphone users to stream music to any speaker wirelessly using Wi-Fi Direct. Chromecast can be connected to the speakers via a 3.5mm, RCA or Optical digital input jack, and stream music from an Android or iOS device, as well as a Windows PC, Mac and Chromecast. Also any sort of pairing is not needed, you can simply hit the cast button on any music streaming app to listen to music. There is also a ‘guest access mode,’ which allows users to stream music even when they are not connected to any Wi-Fi network.
