Referring to the wide media coverage of his presence during the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match in Edgbaston on Sunday, absconding Indian liquor baron Vijay Mallya today said that he is planning to attend all games that India will play in this tournament to cheer the ‘Men in Blue’.

Mallya was spotted cheering the Indian cricket team in the stadium during the Edgbaston match. He was also seen with commentator and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar during the match.

The Indian government has initiated extradition proceedings against Mallya who is living in Britain since last year.

"Wide sensational media coverage on my attendance at the IND v PAK match at Edgbaston. I intend to attend all games to cheer the India team," Vijay Mallya tweeted.

The absconding liquor baron also praised Indian captain Virat Kohli who was the captain of his once IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

"World class player World class Captain World class gentleman @imVkohli . Bravo Virat," he added.

In March 2016, Vijay Mallya fled India after he was named by the CBI in its charge sheet relating to a case dealing with Kingfisher Airlines's unpaid loans to Indian banks.

61-year-old Mallya was the promoter of Kingfisher Airlines and he owes Indian banks Rs 9,000 crore in cases related to embezzlement, debt recovery and foreign exchange transgression.

Mallya was arrested by Scotland Yard last month on India's extradition request. However, he was released on bail by a London court within hours of his arrest.
