Yesterday, the nation took pride in the news that confirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most followed leader on Instagram. We already know about our PM’s love for social media. But do you know who are the other most followed leaders on Instagram? 

Over the five years, we have seen an increasing trend of social media among world leaders. As of April 1st, 2017, these are the most followed leaders on Instagram, PM Modi being on the top of the list.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi evidently tops the list with the largest number of followers. Although, Trump leads the ranking in terms of total number of reactions. 
  • But then again, Narendra Modi is the most effective leader on Instagram with every single of his post receiving 223,000 reactions. 
  • The most liked post on Instagram of the Leaders is a picture of Michelle and Barack Obama during the Halloween celebrations at the White House. This single post got a total number of 1.5 million interactions.
  • Another point to be noted, Barack Obama was the first world leader to set up an Instagram account back in 2012.
