Finally! Akshay Kumar speaks on his National Film Award win controversy
As soon as Akshay Kumar won his first National Film Award for Best actor for the film Rustom, everyone started talking about it. While fans celebrated the victory, several people slammed the actor, which started an entirely new controversy.
Breaking his silence, Akshay spoke on the ongoing debate and said that in 25 years of his film career, he has never called in a favour to bag a movie or an award.
The actor was hinting at the controversy where a section of people claimed that director Priyadarshan who headed the National Awards jury favoured the Jolly LLB 2 actor.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Akshay said, “I have completed 25 years in the film industry and I've never called in a favour to bag a movie or an award. As for Priyan favouring me, I think he has answered that question in your newspaper”.
Recently, Priyadarshan also spoke on the matter and said last year Ramesh Sippy was head of the jury and none questioned his good friend Amitabh Bachchan's best actor win, so why should he and Akshay be subjected to such allegations.
