Shoojit Sircar is repaying his debt to Amitabh Bachchan with ‘Pink’
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently sent down a chill down everyone’s nerve after the trailer of his upcoming movie ‘Pink’ was released yesterday.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the movie also stars Tapsee Pannu in the lead role.
The veteran actor will be seen in the role of a lawyer and his first dialogue in the promo was quite unexpected as he asks Tapsee about her virginity.
Indeed, the trailer has left everyone curious and eager for ‘Pink’ and why wouldn’t they? After all it’s a Shoojit-Bachchan collaboration who gave a super hit movie like ‘Piku’ last year.
However, Sircar feels it’s his way of paying his debt to Amitabh Bahchan.
Not much are aware of the fact that Shoojit Sircar and Amitabh Bachchan has earlier worked together for a movie ‘Shoebit’. Unfortunately, the movie got shelved.
Lately, when Amitabh, asked about the status of ‘Shoebite’, quipped: "He (Sircar) is still cutting the shoes" but Sircar said: "When a film does not release, it is very saddening and you feel really bad for it. But we have moved on.
"We are making films and we are still trying if something can happen but I think that I am repaying back Mr. Bachchan with 'Piku' or even 'Pink' as we could not do that film and that film could not release. So this is my debt that I am repaying him."
Sircar had taken ‘Shoebite’ to production house UTV after it could not release with Percept Picture Company. Percept Picture Company had filed a lawsuit against UTV to stall the release which was later dismissed. Sircar later had blamed the producers of the film UTV Disney for the way they had handled the film and for insulting a star like Amitabh.
While Sircar's directorial ‘Piku’ saw Amitabh winning the National award for Best Actor, ‘Pink’ - which Sircar has presented - sees him in an interesting avatar of a lawyer.
About his look in the film, Amitabh said: "Whatever is given to me to do, to say or wear, I leave it to the director. Shoojit said that this should be the look, the hair, the beard and the clothes I would wear should be this way.
"The mask on the face is mine, that was because one of the days I was training with it, and Shoojit liked it and said that we will use it in the film, also because there is a problem of pollution in Delhi so I roamed around with the mask. And except for that, whatever weapons I got was given to me by Shoojit."
‘Pink’, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, is scheduled to release on September 16. The movie will be clashing with Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Raaz: Reboot’.
