RGV birthday special: Let's recall his brilliant films, not controversies
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has turned a year older today. The ace director came to news many times owing to his controversial and bold statements. But, today on his 55th birthday let’s not look at the modern era of social media that brought him in limelight for wrong reasons and talk about the wonderful films that he made to entertain masses.
The film was released in 1998 and starred actor Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar and Shefali Shah in pivotal roles. The Hindi crime thriller won many awards and was applauded by the audiences. Satya performed well at the box-office.
The film starring Aamir Khan, Jackie Shroff and Urmila Matondkar not only performed well at the box office but also received praises from critics. The music of the film was composed by A. R. Rahman. It was later remade in Hollywood with title Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!.
The film released in 2002 featured actors Mohanlal, Ajay Devgan, Manisha Koirala, Vivek Oberoi, and Antara Mali in prominent roles. The movie was based on Mumbai underworld and became one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of that year.
The film starred megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in pivotal roles. It was premièred at the New York Asian Film Festival and was lauded by both audience and critics.
The movie was the sequel of Sarkar. Along with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, the film had a new entrant Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Sarkar Raj was a critical and commercial success. The third part of Sarkar franchise Sarkar 3 is all set to release on May 12.
