Mohalla Assi: FIR against Sunny Deol, others for hurting religious sentiments
Barnala (Punjab): An FIR was registered against Bollywood actor Sunny Deol for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of people through his upcoming film 'Mohalla Assi'.
The FIR was also lodged against director Chandra Prakash Dwivedi, producer Vinay Tiwari and other casts of the film.
The complaint was lodged at Barnala Sadar police station three days after the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court issued a notice to the censor board on the promos of the film.
President of the Punjab Kanwar Sangh, Tarlochan Bansal, got the FIR registered against Deol and others.
Bansal, a resident of Tapa town in Barnala, said that some derogatory dialogues about the Hindu religion and lord Shiva have been used in the film.
Barnala senior superintendent of police Opinderjit Singh Ghumman confirmed that FIR was registered against Deol and others.
"A case has been registered against director, producer and actors of 'Mohalla Assi' for hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. Similar cases have been registered at some other places as well," he said.
The case has been registered under Section 295 (A) of the IPC.Meanwhile, Bajrang Dal has demanded a ban on 'Mohalla Assi' alleging that the film hurts religious sentiments of the Hindus.
Bajrang Dal convener Neelmani Samadhiya alleged that in the movie, lord Shiva has been depicted in an incredulous manner.
