Shah Rukh Khan expands his cricket family, buys CPL team
New Delhi: Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan is all set to rub shoulders with the top notch Hollywood celebs and no he isn't working in a Hollywood movie but has invested in another business venture.
His obsession for franchisee cricket is gaining new heights, already being the owner of Kolkata Knight Riders - Shah Rukh Khan has now bought CPL team (Caribbean Premier League).
Shah Rukh Khan has bought Trinidad & Tobago franchise in the Caribbean Premier League. Like Bollywood, stars in the West also own such cricket teams and Hollywood stars Mark Wahlberg and Gerard Butler already own CPL franchises.
Mark Wahlberg owns reigning champions Barbados Tridents, led by Kieron Pollard, while Gerard Butler owns Jamaica Tallawahs, captained by Chris Gayle.
It's not Shah Rukh Khan alone, his company Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd -along with KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta has invested in this new venture.
While talking to TOI, Shah Rukh Khan said, "This is in line with our vision to expand globally . We are thrilled to become part of the cricketing tradition of Trinidad & Tobago."
Shah Rukh Khan's IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders is already been declared as one of the most valuable teams with Rs 500 crore brand value.
If everything goes as planned, then there is no doubt that the King of Bollywood take his new CPL team to greater levels.
The next edition of the tournament is scheduled to run from June 20 to July 26.
