Traffic police bar tourist buses from entering the lane leading upto Hrithik Roshan's house
Amitabh Bachchan's home at Juhu is the Mecca for fans from across the country. Last year, citing congestion, the Mumbai traffic police clamped down on all tourist buses stopping outside Pratiksha, his bungalow (Mumbai Mirror, March 31, 2009). Now, a board barring tourist buses from entering a lane that starts from 10th Road at Juhu, and ends next to Hrithik Roshan's building Palazzio, has been put up by the traffic police.
While some tourists do the rounds of museums and monuments, many go on the Bollywood tour — seeing the houses of their favourite actor or actress. Clearly, Hrithik's star status has multiplied by leaps and bounds in the past few years. Many people want to see where the star stays and hope to catch a glimpse of him.
When contacted, Inspector G R Doiphode of D N Nagar Police Station said tourist buses have indeed been banned in that lane which leads to Hrithik's house, but tourists throng the area for two more reasons. “There is a temple nearby. Bachchan's house too is not far away,” he said.
“The real problem, however, is that these tourists urinate and defecate in that lane, inconveniencing residents. We had received many complaints, hence we decided to do something,” added Doiphode.
Another lane from road no 13 leading to Hrithik's house, is being relaid. One wonders if a similar board will come up here after the work is completed.
