So here, in a series of beauty lessons, we will reveal what Ms. Husain said in the interview.
For today, the topic of discussion is sun tan.
Everybody hates a tanned complexion and sunscreen is the first product we get our hands on to get rid of it. But, unfortunately, that's not enough to maintain our natural shine.
Here is Shahnaz Husain giving her valuable inputs on how to remove sun tan:
Question: With the sun being the biggest enemy of glowing skin, how one can get over a tanned complexion? Please dole out some easy and quick tips for both men & women.
Sun tanning is one of the immediate effects of sun-exposure. Exposure to the sun increases the production of melanin, which is the skin's pigment, or colouring matter.
Once melanin is produced in the lower layers of the skin, it moves up to the skin surface. Since it is dark in colour, the skin also becomes tanned. At the moment, physical protection from the sun's rays is the only answer, by applying sunscreens, wearing a hat or carrying a parasol.
Also, try to avoid sun-exposure between noon and 3 p.m., when the sun is directly overhead. Anti-tan sunscreens are also available, including products to be applied after sun exposure.
Here are some quick tips that can be followed by both men and women to remove tan:
1) Add a little curd to ground almonds and apply as a scrub twice a week. Rub gently on the skin with small circular movements and then wash off with water.
2) Add a pinch of turmeric (haldi) to curd and apply daily. Wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes.
3) Mix cucumber pulp with yogurt and apply on the face daily. Wash it off after 20 minutes.
4) Cold milk applied daily, using cotton wool, not only helps to soothe the skin, but also keeps it soft. It also makes the skin colour lighter over a period of time, if used daily.
