The All India Radio will soon start an exclusive news bulletin in “Balochi” language for the people living in Balochistan province of Pakistan and other areas.

All India Radio Director General Fayyaz Sheheryar disclosed in a meeting with Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Tuesday that the External Services division of All India Radio is shortly going to start an exclusive news bulletin in “Balochi” language, particularly for the people living in Balochistan province of Pakistan and other areas.

Programmes aired from Radio Kashmir Jammu station of All India Radio are now flawlessly audible across Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) and beyond, as a result of which, not only is Radio Kashmir Jammu widely heard in PaK but is also becoming increasingly popular with each passing day.

Dr Jitendra Singh said, with the installation of 300 KV Digital Radio Mondial (DRM) transmitter in Jammu, the range of programmes transmitted from Radio Jammu is as far as 300 kms aerial radius or even beyond which, going by the terrestrial distance, is even longer.

This, in other words, he said, means that the programmes of Radio Jammu can be heard beyond PoJK and areas of Pakistan Punjab, including Lahore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his independence speech raked up the issue of human rights violations in Balochistan, Gilgit and PoK, inviting a sharp reaction from Islamabad.

"The people of Balochistan, the people of Gilgit, the people of Pak-occupied Kashmir have thanked me in such a manner, from places that I have never been and never had a chance to meet, they have sent wishes to the people of India and thanked us," Modi said. "I am grateful to them."

“Pakistan forgets that it bombs its own citizens using fighter planes. The time has come when Pakistan shall have to answer to the world for the atrocities committed by it against people in Balochistan and PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir),” he had said earlier.

There have been several incidents of protests against the Pakistani establishment for violation of human rights in Balochistan. Several eminent Baloch personalities have expressed concerns and sought international support. Last week, some Baloch living in Leipzig city of Germany staged a protest against Pakistan's government. The protesters waved Indian flag.
