The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday announced the results of both the phases of contentious National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical colleges.

The result was due to be released on August 17 but the Board released the result today.

After the Supreme Court made the NEET compulsory for admissions into all medical and dental colleges of India, the first phase of NEET was conducted on May 1 in which 6 lakh candidates had registered.

As many candidates failed to register for the first phase, the second phase of NEET was held on July 24 and over 4 lakh students across the country appeared for the exam.
