Foreign tourists assaulted by drunk men in Pushkar, woman's clothes torn off

Four foreigners were allegedly attacked and one of them molested by a gang of six young men yesterday at Pushkar in Ajmer district of Rajasthan.

New Delhi: Four foreigners were allegedly attacked and one of them molested by a gang of six young men yesterday at Pushkar in Ajmer district of Rajasthan.

According to police, the tourists rented a bike and were going to visit Ajaypal Dham when the youths allegedly attacked them.

The goons also molested and tore the clothes of a woman in the group. When one of her friend tried to stop the miscreant, he was attacked with stones on his head.

Police said that the tourists, all between 35 to 40 years of age, checked in a Pushkar hotel two days ago. On Monday afternoon, they rented two bikes from Pushkar to explore the tourist places in the city.

“When they reached near Ajaypal Dham, few local goons who were consuming liquor there tried to talk to them. But after they refused, the goons chased them and attacked one of the ladies,” Ajmer SP, Nitindeep Balaggan, said.

Balaggan said that two women in the group belong to Spain and Turkey, one man is from the USA while the nationality of the other foreigner is still unknown.

Later they called the manager of the hotel they were staying who immediately took rushed to the hospital and informed the police subsequently.

A case under relevant sections of IPC including molestation has been registered and investigation is on, police said, that adding no one has been arrested yet.
