VVIP chopper deal: Cong gives breach of privilege notice against govt in RS
New Delhi: Congress today gave a breach of privilege notice in Rajya Sabha against the Defence Ministry for issuing a statement on AgustaWestland chopper deal when Parliament is in session. The notice was given by Congress MPs Shantaram Naik and Hussain Dalwai. The two contended that the statement on the issue should have been given in the House by the Defence Minister as Rajya Sabha is in session, party sources said.
CBI registers preliminary enquiry in the sting video involving Harish Rawat
New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a preliminary enquiry into the alleged sting operation involving former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat. JNU show-cause to Umar for film screening last year

Mallya says in forced exile, no plans to return to India
London: Embattled tycoon Vijay Mallya has said he is in a "forced exile" and disclosed no immediate plans to return to India where things are flying at him "fast and furious". Mallya, whose passport was revoked this month, said he wants a "reasonable" settlement with creditor banks for his defunct airline, but they "are not getting any money" by taking his passport or arresting him.
Another PF correction: Govt hikes interest rate to 8.8%
New Delhi: Following protest from the trade unions, the finance ministry has hiked interest rate on provident fund deposits to 8.8 per cent from the 8.7 per cent decided by it earlier.
