This year dengue cases in West Bengal have crossed the 2,000-mark while the official death count so far is at 14, a Health Department official said on Thursday.

According to state Director of Health Services Biswaranjan Satpathy, the new cases were reported from different districts of the state, taking the total number of persons infected by Dengue to 2,170.

"There are no reports of any deaths because of Dengue in the last 24 hours from anywhere of the state," Satpathy said.

Most cases were reported from Hooghly district's Serampore and North 24-Parganas district, while there were some cases in Malda, Nadia, Darjeeling, and South 24-Parganas districts, he said.

"In one case, we don't know where the person hails from. In none of the cases do we have the death certificate so far, the official said.
