After Bangalore bar brawl, minister's son gets friends released

Bangalore: A brawl broke out at Pebble - the night lounge bar at Palace Grounds on Sunday, when a group of five youngsters, including Karan Virwani, son of Jitu Virwani, managing director of realty group Embassy, a youngster known as Ayush, another called Julian and two others decided to light up in the no-smoking area.

Youngsters were requested by the bar's staff to use smoking zone instead of the non smoking area but as they starting arguing with the staff, the bouncers and later cops had to intervene. .

The youths  attacked the cops and threatened them, claiming a minister's son was their friend and no one could touch them. But as a sizeable crowd  gathered there, the cops took them to High Grounds police station.

But the police station received a call to release them within 30 minutes of the four youths being brought to the station and  the cops had to release them.

Though in such cases, the first thing that the cops do is subject the accused to a medical test (to ascertain alcohol consumption) at the nearest government hospital, but it did not happen.

Secondly, the accused were supposed to  produced before a magistrate for having obstructed a policeman from discharging his duties, but that too did not happen.
