New Delhi: In a move to enhance safety and security of their locality, residents of Civil Lines area have installed close-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in association with Delhi Police under the ‘Neighbourhood Watch Scheme'.

The resident's association named ‘Club Class' has installed 67 cameras spread in 16 clusters and covering over 2,000 households, Delhi police said.

These are quality mega-pixel cameras and with recording facility at each cluster. These cameras would be further connected through internet to provide viewing facility at any remote locations including a monitoring station set up at Civil Lines police station, they said.

“As policemen cannot always be present at all places, efforts of community policing and appropriate usage of technology go a long way to contribute towards making the city safe and secure,” said an official.

Delhi Police Commissioner, B S Bassi would inaugurate the CCTV camera project at a function organised by the Residents Association ‘Club Class' at Shah Auditorium today.
