Malda: Death of 13 children within 72 hours raises concern in West Bengal
Malda (WB): The death of 13 children in the past 72 hours at the Malda Medical College and Hospital has come as a shock to the people of West Bengal and it has put the accountability of hospital authorities under scanner.
The hospital authorities continue to insist that the babies were critical in the first place. They claim the hospital is already treating over 250 infants. 11 of the dead infants are from Malda itself.
Hospital authorities said, among the 13 children dead, one was from Jharkhand, one was from South Dinajpur and the remaining from Malda district of West Bengal.
According to the MA Rasid, Vice Principle, all the children were admitted to the hospital in critical condition and were under weight. He also informed that more than 250 infants are still under treatment in the hospital.
In the past too there have been incidences of infant deaths in this Hospital.
