Gurgaon, Feb 7 : India TV CEO and managing director Ritu Dhawan was presented the Gr8! Woman Entrepreneur of the Year award at a glittering function in Kingdom of Heaven here on Monday night.

Dhawan gets this award for her contribution in the TV news industry. Beginning with the launch of a production house in 1997, Ritu Dhawan was instrumental in the launch of India TV in 2004 and powered it to the top position among all news channels in India.

"This is just a beginning. We have several more projects to launch which are in the pipeline", Dhawan told the audience.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Bollywood star Raveena Tandon were among those who were given the Gr8!  Achiever awards for their contribution to  social service and film industry respectively.

A mix of big screen and small screen stars were present at the GR8 Women Achievers Awards function.

This year is the 10th edition of the Awards and this edition had over 31 categories including sports, beauty, social service, media, dance, theatre, television, politics, choreography, jewellery designing, actress of the decade, bravery, global reportage among others.

“It is heartening to see that our initiative has grown from strength to strength over the years. It has also become more meaningful as, through it, we are protesting female foeticide in the form of BETI. I am glad that so many women achievers from different genres have participated over the last 10 years. This kind of awareness truly makes it a platform that celebrates being a woman,” says Shashi Ranjan, Founder of GR8 Women Awards.

Last year, the Gr8 Women Achievers Awards was held in Mumbai attended by the likes of Zarine khan, Mugdha Godse, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sushmita Sen, Dia Mirza, Aarti Chhabria, Yukta Mookhey, Archana Kochhar, Shama Sikander, Arya Babbar, Shabana Azmi, Reshmi Ghosh, Asha Parekh, Javed Akhtar, Aruna Irani, Dheeraj Kumar, Bhagyashree, Himalaya, and Saroj Khan.
