Jaipur, Aug 31: The IAS officer, who went missing from a restaurant at Jaipur-Delhi national highway in Alwar district, has remained untraceable so far, police said today.

Naveen Jain, a 2001 batch IAS officer, went missing yesterday when he along with his wife and son were on their way to New Delhi from Jaipur in a car.

Circle Officer Behror-Alwar said different teams have been rushed to several places in New Delhi and Haryana in search of the officer.

The IAS officer hails from Haryana.

Jain, who was posted as commissioner in the settlement department at Jaipur, had left a note in his car for his wife Sunita and son Gautam regretting the fact that he had not been able to provide them accommodation.

After registering a missing complaint with local police station, his family returned to Jaipur last evening.

“There is no progress in the matter and the officer is still missing. All the efforts are being made to locate him,” Alwar SP Mahesh Goyal told PTI over phone.

Meanwhile, Jain's wife claimed her husband was disturbed due to a recent controversy over allotment of government accommodation after he was transferred to Jaipur from Baran.

“My husband was given oral permission to stay in a government residence here when we moved to Jaipur on August 15. We shifted in the house on August 16, but soon a controversy started that our stay was in violation of rules,” she said.

“There were certain circumstances due to which we were given oral permission and the process to allot the accommodation was on. We did not illegally occupied any house,” she told reporters.

Sunita said she yesterday met chief secretary S Ahmad yesterday who assured her of all help in this regard.  Chief Secretary S Ahmad and Principal Secretary (General Administration) Kiran Soni Gupta were not available for comments.

Jain before his transfer was the district collector and magistrate of Baran. He has also been district collector of Karauli, Hanumangarh and Rajsamand districts. PTI
