Mumbai: Mumbai Police Commissioner Satyapal Singh has become the first Mumbai commissioner of police to quit as he resigned from the Indian Police Service on Thursday . Singh was due for retirement in 2015.

According to the reports Singh is all set to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha polls either from Uttar Pradesh or Mumbai as a nominee of either BJP or Aam Admi Party.

Singh told media “I have submitted my resignation. I have three good offers. One is from BJP, second is from AAP and the third is international offer. I am weighing all options. I am keen on contesting the Lok Sabha polls either from Mumbai or Uttar Pradesh,” Singh said.

Singh is a 1980 batch IPS officer, he has occupied several top positions in Maharashtra police. Before being appointed as Mumbai police commissioner, he was additional DGP (law and order). He was also commissioner of police in Pune and Nagpur and was one of the early SPs in Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district.

Singh has worked in the CBI and has authored several books on spirituality and human values.
