New Delhi: As Delhi continues to face prolonged power cuts, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today issued directions for early restoration of the transmission network, which was damaged in a powerful storm last month crippling electricity supply in the national capital.

After a review, Jung directed the Chief Secretary and senior officers of power department and discoms to ensure that all the projects to repair, restore and energize various lines so as to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of Delhi are completed properly.

Chief Secretary S K Srivastav, along with Principal Secretary (Power) Arun Goel, inspected Bawana-Rohini 220KV Project today and directed the project engineers to work 24x7 to ensure completion of the project before the target date.

Officials said that the peak demand during the day today was below 4300 MW, adding that there was no load shedding by the discoms except for technical necessity.

He also said various task forces, set up for individual projects after Jung's meeting with Union Power Minister on June 10, are working round-the-clock to bring back the projects as per the target set in the meeting.

“Senior officers of Delhi Government and Government of India are keeping a close watch and are inspecting the sites and reviewing the projects regularly,” said an official.

According to the official, the work of restoration of Bamnauli-Pappan Kalan 220 KV Line will be completed on June 16 and all four towers that were severely damaged have been re-erected.

He also said that Jyoti Arora, Joint Secretary of Ministry of Power, today visited the site of Maharani Bagh -Ghazipur 220 KV line and reviewed the restoration work.
