Jammu: Stressing that people cannot be de-linked from the security of the country, the Army today said the people are being made aware of how they can contribute towards security and nation building process.

"People cannot be de-linked from the security of the nation...they are also being made aware of how they can contribute towards security and the entire nation building (process)," General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Jammu-based Tiger Division, Major General Sanjeev Narain told reporters on the sidelines of 'Jagruk Hindustani' Cricket Tournament organised by the army today.

"We are aware of the prevailing situation and how the situation has been and all I would say is that we are well prepared and focused towards preventing any untoward incident," Narain also said.

He further said the 'Jagruk Hindustani' (aware Indian) has played a role in foiling terror attacks.

"In all the terrorists attacks, the citizen or 'Jagruk Hindustani' had a role to play, whether it was in Dinanagar in Punjab where the milkman pointed out the explosive that had been placed on the railway line or what happened in Udhampur," he said.

He said Army is the premier security force of the nation which needs to connect with people as it also has a reach in the border areas.

"We have a presence in all the areas so we look to bind with people," he said.

On the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu region he said, "All these attacks have failed as the security forces were able to neutralise the terrorists," and added that "necessary measures have been put in place" to deal with such cases in the future.

What needs to be done has been done by various other security forces, from the Border Security Forces to the Army, he said, even as he agreed that the terrorists were able to come till a distance in the country.

On the presence of militants across the border and the launching camps active there, he said these were operational details which cannot be disclosed.

"These are the things which are ongoing and necessary measures are in place and whatever needs to be done is being done," he said.

Narain said the army was also offering an opportunity to the youths to showcase their talent.
