Rampal to be interrogated by special police team today
Hisar (Haryana): Rampal, the self-styled “godman” who was arrested from his Satlok Ashram on Wednesday has been shifted to a jail in Hisar (Haryana) where he will be questioned by a special police team today.
The court had first sent Rampal into judicial custody till November 28. The court, later on, granted 5-day police remand of Rampal although Haryana police had requested for a 7-day police remand.
Rampal has been booked in 35 new cases that include charges of illegal confinement of people, rioting and murder.
Rampal's bail in a 2006 murder case was cancelled by the Punjab and Haryana High Court Thursday and he was sent to judicial custody in that case.
Rampal had failed to appear in the court 43 times since 2006.
His lawyer pleaded that he had been unable to appear in court 43 times in four years as he was being held hostage by “anti-social elements” in his own luxurious ashram.
