Kolhapur (Maharashtra): Activists of Shiv Sena and all-party anti-toll committee today vandalized nine toll barriers in Kolhapur demanding an end to toll tax for entry into Kolhapur.

Led by Shiv Sena leaderĀ  N D Patil, the activists set fire to the motor room, and stoned all the toll barriers.

The activists went on a wild vandalizing spree and the police did not take any action.

Patil and other Shiv Sena activists were sitting on hunger strike since the last six days demanding end to toll tax, unless the toll roads were properly repaired and improvised.

Maharashtra minister Hasan Mushrif and minister of state for Home Satej Patil had met the Kolhapur Mayor and corporation officials. It was decided that the corporation will bear all expenses for repairing the toll roads and no toll would be taken.

But at the toll barriers, people were forced to pay this morning at all 9 entry barriers to the city, and then the Shiv Sena workers began their vandalizing spree.
