New Delhi: At the time when India is preparing to celebrate its 65th Republic Day, some terrorist outfits are planning to turn this celebration into mayhem.

And this time India's IT state Andhra Pradesh is on the terrorists' radar.

Based on an Indian Intelligence Bureau report, the Hyderabad City Police have issued a terror alert for the city of Hyderabad beginning 31 December 2013, and likely concluding on Republic Day, 26 January 2014.

Police officials warn that the terror alert should not be taken lightly as terror operatives are reportedly targeting large groups of people at public places and on roads.

Extra vigilance over the next several weeks is strongly advised.

Intelligence inputs about possible terrorist strikes across India ahead of Republic Day has forced police to have a rethink on security.

India TV had aired a story on Thursday night about Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence has roped in Indian Mujahideen to create mayhem during Republic Day by using magnetic explosive device for spectacular strikes.

The revelations were made by the Intelligence Bureau who said that ISI has given it the code name ‘Chipkoo Bomb'.
