Backing Modi plea Vasundhara Raje claimed attacks on him were “politically motivated”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had backed the immigration plea of scam-tainted former IPL boss Lalit Modi in Britain in 2011, contending she had no doubt that the frontal attack he was facing in India then was “politically motivated”.  

“Given my close understanding of, and involvement in Indian politics, I have absolutely no doubt that the broad, full frontal attack that Lalit is currently facing in India is politically motivated.

Court setback to Smriti Irani in education qualification row

A Delhi court took cognisance on Wednesday of a complaint filed against human resource and development minister Smriti Irani for allegedly giving false information about her educational qualification.
Metropolitan magistrate Akash Jain took cognisance of the complaint and fixed the matter for recording of pre-summoning evidence on August 28.

Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde accused of involvement in Rs 206 crore scam

Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde has been accused of being involved in a scam worth Rs 206 crore scam relating to items provided to children under government schemes.

This is the  first major allegation against the Devendra Fadnavis led BJP- Shiv Sena government of Maharashtra.

Government to set up 6 new IIMs

In good news for MBA aspirants, the government today cleared the proposal for the setting up of six new IIMs in the country, which will start offering courses from the coming academic session itself.

The new IIMs will be located at Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Sambalpur (Odisha) and Amritsar (Punjab).

India save face with consolation win over Bangladesh

India restored some pride with a consolation 77-run win over Bangladesh in third and final ODI here today to prevent the spirited hosts from securing a famous 3-0 series whitewash.

India, put in to bat, put up a competitive 317 for six courtesy under-fire captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (69 runs off 77 balls) and opener Shikhar Dhawan (75 off 73).
