New Delhi: UAE has deported two of the Indians whose social media accounts showed a sign of being radicalized and sympathetic to terror outfit ISIS.
Both from Kochi, were part of a group that consisted 10 people from the subcontinent in the UAE.
These people were found to have participated in the activities of ISIS and sharing pro-ISIS material on social media.
“The Facebook accounts of these men came under the scanner of authorities in the UAE, and they were deported in batches. Both of the men from Kerala were sent back to India on August 29,” a intelligence source was quoted as saying in Indian Express report.
None of the deported men have ever traveled beyond the UAE to join ISIS troops in Iraq or Syria.
“The two who were sent back to India have been interrogated by the Intelligence Bureau, and it was decided not to register any case against them. After putting them through some counselling sessions, they were allowed to return to their homes,” it said further.
On August 1st, at a high-level meeting in New Delhi, police chiefs and home secretaries of 12 states were informed by the Home Secretary to adopt a “measured approach” so that threat of radicalisation of youth by the Islamic State could be countered easily.
