Bangalore: A year after he walked out of the BJP alleging betrayal, Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) chief  and Lingayat strongman B S Yeddyurappa today rejoined the party.

Speaking to India TV, Yeddyurappa said:  “It's a big day for me, I am happy that I am returning to the party in the interest of the nation.

"The entire nation is groaning under the corrupt rule of Congress. I am returning to the Congress only to ensure that Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister. "

Yeddyurappa clarified that he had no serious charges of corruption against him.

"The Congress is unnecessary raising a hue and cry against me. I expect the court to give me justice. I do not aspire for any post in BJP", the former chief minister said.

"I want to work as an ordinary worker in BJP. Since the time I floated my party KJP, people wanted me to return to BJP. Even the BJP leaders themselves wanted me to return. I have full hope that all of us will combine to give good results to the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections."
