The Washinghton Post Express, a free daily edition given to mass transit passengers in D.C, faced flak for its cover page blunder about a women's march in the US capital after the tabloid mistakenly featured the male gender symbol to represent a massive Women's March planned for January 21 to protest against inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.

In other words, the magazine published a crowd of women to create an outline of the Mars symbol (which is used to represent men) rather than the Venus symbol (used to represent women).

The magazine tried to apologise for the cover page blunder made another mistake in its Tweet.

“We made a mistake on our cover this morning and we’re very embarrassed. We errnoeously (sic) used a male symbol instead of a female symbol,” the tweet said.

It was later changed to fix the spelling of “erroneously.”

Shortly after Express tweeted the image of the cover, they were widely panned and criticized for the error.

The new image showed a cluster of women forming the female symbol — and apologized.

It offered no explanation for the mixup.
