New Delhi: An executive and a female manager who met at a nightclub and had consensual sex at a hotel in Downtown Dubai have each been jailed for six months.

The 43-year-old executive from the Comoros Islands picked up the 39-year-old Uzbek manager from the nightclub in Naif, and took her to his apartment at the luxurious hotel in June 2013, and had sex with her, Gulf News reported.

According to records, the Uzbek manager agreed to have sex with the executive for Dh1,500 for the night.

A police official testified the Uzbek woman initially claimed that the man had raped her before she changed her statement, contending that he took back the money he had paid her.

Prosecutors charged the woman with prostitution. Meanwhile the executive was charged with having consensual sex.

The Dubai Court of First Instance handed six-month jail terms to the defendants. The man was given an additional month in jail for drinking liquor.

“The couple will be deported after serving their jail terms,” said presiding judge Mohammad Jamal on Sunday.

The duo denied the sex charges when they appeared in court. The man admitted to drinking alcohol.
