Islamabad, Dec 23:  Prominent political leaders from across Pakistan today joined thousands of mourners in paying their last respects to leading anti-Taliban politician Bashir Ahmad Bilour, who was killed by a suicide bomber.



Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Awami National Party chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti were among those who attended funeral prayers for Bilour at a stadium in the Peshawar cantonment.

Tight security arrangements were put in place for the funeral prayers and helicopters were used to conduct surveillance of the venue.

Bilour was later buried at his family's at his ancestral graveyard.
