AAP MLA Surender Singh hits out at BJP over fake degree allegations
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Delhi Cantonment Commando Surender Singh, who was arrested along with five others here on Sunday in connection with the suicide of a woman party worker, today trashed allegations of fake degree levelled by BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar against him.
Alleging that ‘it was a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s plan to target AAP leaders’, he said, “This degree has been scrutinized twice in Jhajjar (Haryana). Delhi Police has scrutinized this degree. There is nothing wrong with the degree. BJP’s Karan Singh Tanwar is sending RTI to some other university. Ever since his name featured in MM Khan’s murder case, he has been doing these things to improve his image.”
Tanwar, former MLA from Delhi Cantonment, has alleged that after retiring from the Army, Singh tried for the job of a teacher in a government school in Jhajjar by submitting a fake graduation degree.
Reacting to this, Singh said, “Tanwar has already filed two-three complaints on this issue at the same police station in Jhajjar and another one with Delhi Police. After investigation, it was found that the FIR had no merit.”
Tanwar, on the other hand, said that his allegation against Singh are based on an RTI reply received from the Sikkim University which said it did not have any record of a student named Surender Singh.
Singh is the second AAP MLA after former law minister Jitender Singh Tomar, who is facing allegations over educational qualification and had to step down.
