Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers today attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office in Patna.

Early reports suggest that the incident took place after an alleged heated argument between the two groups.

The RJD workers pelted stones on the BJP office building and also broke glasses of several vehicles.

The RJD workers had reportedly reached the BJP office to protest against the Income Tax department’s raids on the residences and properties of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on alleged corruption and benami properties.

However, the RJD and BJP workers indulged in a heated argument which eventually turned into a chaos.

The police have reached the spot and are trying to control the situation.

Further details are awaited.

The incident comes a day after the I-T authorities are conducting raids ans surveys at 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas on charges of alleged benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore, linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad and others.

The BJP had last week accused Prasad, his MP-daughter Misa Bharti and his two sons, both Bihar government ministers, of being involved in corrupt land deals worth over Rs 1,000 crore, and asked the central government to probe one such transaction in Delhi.

Following the I-T raids, Lalu Yadav trained guns at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, congratulating the BJP for what he termed as its "new alliance partners".

Lalu's hint at the "new alliance partner" was apparently directed at the JDU which CM Nitish heads.
