Condemning the incident of a Muslim man being beaten to death by alleged “cow vigilantes” in Rajasthan’s Alwar district, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asked the government to take strict action against those responsible for the brutal and senseless attack.

“When government abdicates responsibility and allows lynch mobs to rule, tragedies of immense proportion follow. Shocking breakdown of law & order in Alwar," he tweeted.

"All right thinking Indians must condemn this blind brutality,” tweeted Rahul Gandhi.

“Anybody who doesn't listen to and agree with Narendra Modi and RSS has no place in India, that's their vision,” Rahul said later, escalating his attack on the Centre on the matter.

Rahul’s remarks came after Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs as well as Minority Affairs (Independent) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that no such incident took place as described by the opposition in the House.

Responding to a statement made by Congress MP Madhusudan Mistry in Rajya Sabha, Naqvi said, “Jis tarah ki ghatna pesh ki ja rahi hai, aisi koi ghatna zameen par nahi hui hai” (No such incident, as being reported, has taken place on the ground).

55-year-old Pehlu Khan succumbed to injuries on Monday after he, along with his brother Aarif and two sons, was attacked by alleged “gau rakshaks” in Alwar on Saturday.

The mob accused him of smuggling cattle, however, the receipts of purchasing milch cows have concluded that he was a dairy farmer.

The police have arrested three of the six accused named in the FIR, whereas the rest three are yet to be traced.

According to the Home ministry, the incident will be probed and the issue will be discussed in the House.
