Prime Minister can't do Padmasana: Rahul's jibe at Yoga practitioner Modi
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today took pot shots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his inability to do the Padmasana, the lotus position in Yoga, referring to his insincerity.
"I saw PM Modi doing yoga on yoga day. The PM did all kinds of asanas - quite well - but he could not do the padmasana," the Congress vice president said at the 'Jan Vedna Sammelan' of the Congress in Delhi.
"I've done some yoga. Admittedly, I'm not very good at it, but my yoga guru used to tell me that if you practice yoga regularly, you can very easily do the padmasana. The converse though isn't true. Anyone who doesn't do yoga regularly can't do the Padmasana," Rahul added.
Rahul's remarks pile insult upon injury as Prime Minister is said to be a regular Yoga practioner.
Rahul also took a swipe at the Prime Minister for 'not properly holding' the broom during his Swach Bharat Abhiyan. "Similarly, when he went with a broom to talk about cleaning up India, did you see how he was holding the broom? Nothing gets cleaned if you hold the broom like that," he added.
Reacting to the speech, BJP spokesperson Sidharth Nath Singh said that Rahul Gandhi is a joke.
"The problem is Rahul needs to grow up and get out of his diapers. He needs to move out of his mother's lap," Singh told a news channel.
