‘Quit or go to jail’, BJP tells Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to either resign or go to jail, a day after sacked minister Kapil Mishra hurled corruption charges at him.
“Either (go to) jail or resign. Please decide Arvind Kejriwalji as being (the) CM of Delhi you can decide for people of Delhi. You said it yourself,” BJP’s Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari tweeted.
He also retweeted Kejriwal’s May 10, 2013, tweet which reads: “Should people just resign for corruption or should they be sent to jail for corruption?”
Yesterday, Tiwari had requested Lt Governor Anil Baijal to examine the possibility of ‘immediately dismissing’ Kejriwal and Jain over graft allegations levelled against them by Mishra.
A day after being dropped as a minister, Mishra on Sunday levelled stunning allegations of corruption against Kejriwal and Jain, a charge refuted by the ruling party.
Mishra had told reporters that he ‘saw Jain handing over Rs 2 crore in cash to Kejriwal at his official residence’. He also alleged that Jain had told him about a ‘land deal worth Rs 50 crore of a relative of Kejriwal that he had settled’.
Meanwhile, the AAP today termed the entire episode a conspiracy being hatched by the BJP through Mishra.
The party said that Mishra was making ‘baseless’ allegations against Kejriwal ‘out of desperation after being dropped from the Cabinet’.
