BJP MP Raises Speak Asia Issue In RS
New Delhi, Aug 5: Concern was expressed in Rajya Sabha over alleged cheating of about 20 lakh middle class people by a Singapore-based online survey company Speak Asia.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Prabhat Jha (BJP) said the alleged cheating involved Rs 1,326 crore that was fraudulently taken from 20 lakh persons on the promise of Rs 4,000 per month in return of one-time deposit of Rs 11,000. Middle class investors were duped, seeing “Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne,” Jha said.
LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, however, objected to the remarks noting that it was an insult to a noted Dalit politician from Bihar whose name was Mungeri Lal. Jha wanted to know whether Speak Asia was registered in the country and if not how it could function. He said that only a police case was registered in the matter.
Last month, the Mumbai police arrested the chief operating officer of the company, Tarak Bajpai for alleged financial irregularities.
The company, which is yet to be incorporated as a company in India, used to charge a membership fee of Rs 11,000 for a year. PTI
