Meerut: District authorities in Khand Machra today asked BSP Rajya Sabha MP Munkad Ali to change his choice of village adopted in line with Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, stating that the village population is more than the prescribed guidelines under the scheme.

Ali had adopted Shahjahanpur village, with population of 8,000, while according to the SAGY guidelines an MP can only choose a village with population between 3,000-5,000, a district spokesperson said.

Chief Development Officer Navneet Singh Chahel had urged the MP to alter his choice of village as it was not in accordance with the scheme's guidelines, the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Rajendra Agrawal has adopted Rajpura area's Bhagwanpur Chatawan village.
