Centre Responsible For Price Rise : Nitish
Blaming the UPA for the rise in prices of essential commodities across the country, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday asked the Centre to convene an all-party meet to discuss ways to resolve the crisis.
"The Centre is to be blamed for the escalating prices ... The state government is only the implementing machinery so far as policies of the Centre are concerned," he told newsmen on the sidelines of his weekly Janata Darbar.
Kumar asked the Centre to convene an all-party meet and take suggestions as to how the prices of essential commodities and edible oils could be controlled.
Reacting sharply to RJD Chief Lalu Prasad's allegation that the state government had failed to act against hoarders and blackmarketeers, Kumar said, "Instead of giving false and vague statements about hoarding and black marketing Prasad should come out with specific examples of hoarding and inform the government in the interest of the country and the state. Action would be initiated on Prasad's complaints, he assured.
The RJD has given a call for a statewide bandh on January 28 against price rise and state government's alleged failure to act against black marketeers and hoarders. PTI
