Chronology of events leading to Gopal Kanda's arrest

New Delhi, Aug 19: Following is the chronology of events leading to former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda's arrest in ex-airhostess Geetika Sharma's suicide case.

Aug 4-5, 2012: 23-year-old ex-airhostess Geetika Sharma hangs herself at her Ashok Vihar residence, Delhi Police recovers her suicide note which blamed erstwhile Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda and his aide Aruna Chaddha for her extreme step.

Aug 5: Kanda resigns as Minister of State for Home after he was booked for abetment of Sharma's suicide.  Aug 8: Aruna Chaddha is arrested for her alleged role in Sharma's suicide, Kanda ignores Delhi police summons for questioning him.

Aug 9: Kanda fails to get anticipatory bail from the trial court, Chaddha sent to two-days' police custody.  Aug 13: Kanda, who was absconding, moves the Delhi High Court for anticipatory bail.

Aug 16: Trial court issues non-bailable warrant against Kanda.

Aug 17: Kanda's anticipatory bail plea dismissed by the Delhi High Court.

Aug 18: Kanda surrenders before Delhi police and is arrested. Produced before the trial court which remands him to 7-days police custody.
