Congress general secretary B.K Hariprasad on Wednesday criticised Uttar Pradesh government for "misusing" huge central funds on statues and parks which could have made a huge difference had it been spent on development works. "The funds being provided by the central government are not being spent at the right place...Had the massive funds being spent on statues and parks been utilised in the right areas it could have changed the picture of Uttar Pradesh", Hariprasad said in Siddhartnagar of Uttar Pradesh.

Hariprasad, who took part in a road show to propagate various schemes of the UPA government, said his party was gradually gaining ground in the state because of the efforts of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

"Things are becoming clearer in the state for Rahul Gandhi's mission 2012 assembly elections", Hariprasad said.

Hariprasad, who is also incharge of party affairs of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, said Gujarat chief minister, Narendra Modi is providing 24 hour power only to areas where his voters live and claimed that his (Modi's) charge that centre was misusing CBI were totally baseless. PTI
