Gadkari, Sushma, Jaitley 'Trimurti' of BJP: Naidu
Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday described party president Nitin Gadkari, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and her counterpart in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley as "trimurti" (troika) of the saffron outfit.
"All three of them emerged as frontline leaders of the party through a natural course and they cannot be compared with Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi," Naidu told reporters in Indore.
"Nitin Gadkari, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley are the troika of BJP," he said. Naidu, a former party chief, maintained that in BJP, emergence of youth leadership is a natural phenomenon while in Congress it was "heredity" which was a deciding factor.
Referring to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his Chhattisgarh counterpart Raman Singh, he said BJP always believes in promoting leaders having humble background.
Naidu termed the fractured mandate in Jharkhand as "unfortunate" and said the trend was not in the interest of the backward state, where the BJP is in power in alliance with regional outfit JMM. PTI
