Indigo Airlines operations to make Vizag a tourist hub: AP CM
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said here today that Indigo Airlines' move to make Visakhapatnam its hub of operations would help the city become a tourist destination in the near future.
“Vizag city will become important tourist destination in the near future with excellent air connectivity.
We have plans to improve the city as a financial capital apart from making it a beautiful one on par with Hyderabad and Bengaluru which attracts the tourism sector.
We are committed to the development of the North Andhra Region,” Naidu said, addressing a huge gathering at Aripaka village in Sabbavaram mandal.
As part of the efforts to make the city a financial hub, Naidu said his government plans to motivate industrialists to start more units in the region.
The union government's help has been sought to connect Anakapalli and Anandapuram by road to relieve traffic-related stress on Vizag city, he said.
He also said that Vizag would get 20 TMC to 25 TMC of water once the Left Bank Canal of the Polavaram project becomes a reality and rural areas get water for irrigation.
He urged womenfolk of Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) to concentrate on education which would eradicate their poverty.
