MP CM Favours Creation Of Separate States
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, justifying the demand for separate state of Vidharbha, said that creation of small states could pave the way for their overall development.
Chouhan, who visited Sai Baba temple with family to seek blessings on the occasion of New Year, said that former NDA government at Centre had played a crucial role in carving out Jharkhand, Utteranchal and Chattisgarh.
When asked about Gujarat Government's decision to make voting mandatory in local body elections, Chouhan said the decision was proper but we should create public awareness about voting so that voters will come out in majority.
The Chief Minister said various schemes of his government to attract voters has yielded good results.
Chouhan suggested conducting of Lok Sabha, assembly and civic body elections simultaneously to maintain the pace of development.
The elections are held on different dates forcing Election Commission to impose model code of conduct that hampers the pace of undergoing developmental works, he said.
On Nitin Gadakri's appointment as BJP national president, he said Gadkari's leadership would benefit the party.
He denied that RSS influenced the party to appoint Gadkari. PTI
