Murmurs Of Protest Still On; Four JMM MLAs Demand Soren As CMKeeping their pressure on, four of the 18 JMM MLAs on Thursday demanded continuation of party President Shibu Soren as Jharkhand Chief Minister for first 28 months before handing over the baton to the BJP
Keeping their pressure on, four of the 18 JMM MLAs on Thursday demanded continuation of party President Shibu Soren as Jharkhand Chief Minister for first 28 months before handing over the baton to the BJP saying replacing him will send a wrong signal among the tribals.
"We do not mind 28 months each for the JMM and the BJP, but we should allow Soren to continue and complete the first half of the rule on the basis of 50:50 formula," JMM MLAs Champai Soren, Bidyoot Barun Mahto, Ram Das Soren and Dipak Birua told reporters in Jamshedpur.
All the four hail from the Kolhan region in Jharkhand and are strong supporters of Soren.
Soren had even mooted the name of Champai Soren as one of the chief ministerial candidates when he had lost the Tamar bypoll in January last year, days before his resignation as Chief Minister and the subsequent president's rule.
JMM had earlier this week claimed that an agreement reached in Delhi had the consent of both BJP and JMM about ruling the state for 28 months each. However, BJP maintained that an agreement was reached among the two parties that it would rule the full term in the state.
BJP had decided to withdraw support to the Shibu Soren government on April 28 after the JMM chief, still an MP, voted against the opposition-sponsored cut-motions in the Lok Sabha. It put its decision on hold after an offer to head the state government by Hemant. PTI
