Varanasi: As Narendra Modi arrives in Varanasi today for his maiden visit since becoming the Prime Minister, the temple town is buzzing with excitement and is eagerly waiting for some good tidings that the PM might bring to them.

Modi will stay in Varanasi for two days during which he is likely to discuss a plan on adopting a village from his constituency under the MP Model Village Scheme.

According to sources, the Prime Minister may adopt Jayapur village which is approximately 24 kms away from Varanasi. Modi is scheduled to address the masses there.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party will be in Varanasi to welcome the Prime Minister.

Since the time Modi decided to contest Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi, this ancient city has been in constant spotlight.

Residents in the town hope its new VIP profile will ensure that its crumbling infrastructure and lack of basic amenities will be addressed.

Today Modi he is also expected to inaugurate several projects including one to uplift the lot of weavers in Varanasi.
