Ravan Raj In Punjab Will End Soon, says Congress Leader Bhattal
Phagwara, Punjab, Aug 29: In a broadside against the ruling Akali-BJP government, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab Assembly and former CM, on Sunday said that the ‘Ravan raj' gripping the state for over four years was about to end.
Talking to reporters here, she called upon Punjabis to be prepared to bring back ‘Ram rajya' by voting the Congress back to power. She said that the law and order machinery in the state has totally collapsed and the incidents of looting, snatching and killing have increased manifolds.
She alleged that “the state has gone bankrupt and all its departments, corporations and municipal councils were under deep debt.”She accused the state government of running away from repeated Congress demand of issuing a white paper about the state's economic condition.
“Employees, including teachers, anganwari workers and farmers, were being prevented by the SAD-BJP government from registering their protest,” she said.
Bhattal alleged that the Akali government was grabbing farmers' land and subjecting them to repression. She declared that her party would stage a huge protest demonstration on September 2 in Breta Mandi of Mansa in support of Gobindpura farmers.
“Congress, on coming to power, would return the land to the house less farmers,” Bhattal said. She hailed the adoption of resolution in Parliament that endorsed in principle the three demands of Team Anna. She also supported Haryana Sikhs demand for a separate Gurdwara Management Committee. PTI
