Sharad Pawar's daughter Suprira Sule is happy working as MP

Mumbai, Jun 10:  Scotching the media speculation about her foray into Maharashtra politics through a specially carved out party front, NCP MP Supriya Sule today asserted that she was happy working as a parliamentarian.

Political circles are rife with speculations that NCP, led by her father and party supremo Sharad Pawar, is launching her into state politics through the ‘Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress', a new cell for women in the age group of 18 to 35, which will be unveiled on the 13th Foundation Day of the party tomorrow.

“I am very happy working in the Parliament. It's a huge exposure and I am very happy,” Supriya told reporters.  When asked if she would lead the party in the state if asked to do so, the Baramati MP said, “there is no paucity of state leaders in NCP”.

“In 2014 and later, I will seek ticket of Baramati Lok Sabha from the party,” she said.

To a query if she was interested in working in Maharashtra, Supriya replied, “I am (already) working in the state. I represent a constituency here. The Yuvati congress cell is an attempt to strengthen the organisation and create new leadership. If the organisation survives then we do”.

She said the concept of Rashtravadi Yuvati Congress came to her mind because women do not get enough opportunities in the parent party and its Youth wing.

“The issues and problems of women in the age group of 18 to 35 vary from eve teasing, paucity of women's hostels to education, health, domestic violence among others,” She added.
